Chloe, who had just lost her second pregnancy right at the start of the pandemic in 2020, was struggling to find a reason to get out of bed since she was in lock down and couldn’t work her normal job. Not being able to work in person she was left not knowing how to spend her day or generate her normal income. Her husband, Trevor, encouraged her to paint since she usually doesn’t have time to paint for herself. So, she found a piece of old plywood in her garage, pulled it inside the house and started painting. This painting helped her find a reason to get out of bed and focus on creating something beautiful even though she felt consumed by darkness. She wanted to remind herself that there will always be days when we struggle with loss or depression, where we don’t have any motivation to get out of bed. But when we focus on creating something beautiful for ourself or others, we will hopefully be able to find a way to move forward.
